Police Department.
Michigan, USA.
Winter, 2007.

Everyone that has heard of my hobby has predicted my downfall or me being detained. Well it finally happened; I ended up behind bars at the Police Department.
In true urbex fashion, I took a look around the building.
The text on the photos is because a friend of mine had his photos stolen by a white supremacist hate site. I definitely don't want those fucks to benefit from my risks. Racial division is something this world could use a lot less of.
If you're wondering - the site was claiming that this all came up because of the black population in the area. I didn't want to get into an in depth ghetto-race-class discussion, so I tried to put the most concise caption I could on the photos.

I should get to the actual items at hand - gas mask.

Chemical warfare case...hmmm.

There were plenty of these pamphlets trying to get the word out about various criminals.
I have one somewhere where they were looking for a man who shot at a house with a shotgun and a grenade launcher.

Interrogation Record.

There were a few grimy rooms here and there that we didn't thoroughly search.

In the main entrance; there was an area with a window where you would be helped. I can imagine how unimpressed I would be to read this sign if I was sitting there for some bullshit reason.

Either interrogation or holding chairs.
I'd say probably holding chairs? Didn't seem far enough from the entrance to be interrogation chairs.

Large holding cell; I'm sure some rough ass dudes sat here.
Where the hell did the prisoners get the black stuff to write on the walls with?

Someone asked me why I didn't put one of these on. I'm not sure; they were sort of grimy.

Next we headed downstairs and found the evidence room. Lots of goodies here...

Bullets!

Old school cell phone and more bullets!

Evidence knife table.

Evidence plate.

Really specific evidence tags.

Evidence brick. There was a whole shelf of these.

Some more elaborate weapons - pick axe.

Oh damn!
Sand this bad boy down and get a couple bills for it.
Eight photos of evidential items is just scratching the surface; we went there a while ago and I still remember looking at Air Forces, basketball cards, 40's, bootleg video cassettes, Nintendo gaming systems & 23 even went back and found capsules holding pieces of bullets actually pulled from people... i.e. fragments of bullet pulled from arm of Tyrone Kolnik.
It was basically a very large basement room with shelves of almost anything you could think of.

Moving on, we found a small room in the basement with some riot gear.
Anyone want to let me know what Pepper Fog is?

Another room in the basement had boxes upon boxes of files. I'm not much of a person to look through copious amounts of items; but this was the first document I pulled and it even was a good read.

Further into the depths of the basement we found the shooting range.

In the middle of the shooting range stood 3 file cabinets full of mug shots.
Some mean 70's/80's haircuts in effect.

Going upstairs from the basement, we found actual Polaroids instead of black & white mug shots. I took the one of the finest honey I could find and put it in my car. Anyway, my mechanic is fixing my car and finds it, "oh, oh, oh, who is this?" he asks. "Beats me, I found it in an abandoned Detroit police station."
Awkward silence ensued.

Gangster posing it up.

Also found some evidence panties.

All in the upper floor offices.

In another section of the upper floor I found this Paula Abdul water bottle. Discussion of what people took from this place came up & people couldn't believe all I took was a Paula Abdul water bottle.
I know, I know; I should have left it for fellow urbexers.
I'm sorry all.

Crack!
I'm really surprised this wasn't long gone. Although it's not that much crack really.

The last room contained a chart from when the police force was trying to catch the Woodward Corridor Killer. The Woodward Corridor Killer was Benjamin (Tony) Atkins, a 29 year old male who killed 11 prostitutes during a nine-month period starting in 1991. Atkins would kill, rape and strangle these women, leaving their bodies behind in abandoned buildings along Woodward Ave in Detroit or Highland Park.
He was caught eventually and sentenced to 11 life sentences. He survived 4 years in prison and claimed he killed the women because of an underlying hate for prostitution.

There were also specific charts pertaining to each victim and their location.

Charts showing the items found on each victim and also the items found in the locations.
Last words about this place? It's in the ghetto and the city doesn't have a police force anymore; I'm going to go out on a limb and say this might be here a while.
