SCOTT'S GROOVY MOVIE OF
THE MONTH
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
Released May 10th/2005
Director Wes Anderson
has created yet another interesting trip, captained by Bill Murray's
deadpan wit.
Anderson leapt onto the
scene back in 1996 with Bottle Rocket. He followed that
offering with Rushmore (1998), & The Royal Tenenbaums (2001). And
much to my chagrin, the originality of his screenplays are
still,...well,...original!!!
With his recent
success Hollywood will undoubtedly hop on this bizarre bandwagon
with some attempted knock offs, and sadly perhaps he'll soon be
forced to re-invent his unique genre of film-making...so let's enjoy
the ride while the boats still affloat.
I still slightly
lean towards RUSHMORE as my favourite Anderson film simply because
Jason Schwartzman is absolutely FUCKING
awesome in it! Oh, by the way,
I've decided to drop one rhetorical F-bomb per article...sort of my
very own reoccurring version of "You killed Kenny!" But, I
also think The Life Aquatic will definitely just get better with
some repeated viewings.
On a couple sites some
of the mentally retarded criticized the film for it's poor usage of
CGI?
I can see how this
movie wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but the CGI was a) Rather
limited, so this wasn't any kind of "sell-out" and b) Purposefully
done cheesily so it fell in line with the movies overall surrealism
effect.
Seriously, after three
hit flicks Wes Anderson has some major studio clout, & if he wanted
to create a serious CGI packed adventure I'm certain he could
have...but thankfully he's left that crap to James Cameron & George
friggin' Lucas. On a side note...I really like the way he uses
colour in his films. The yellowish tones & deep red hues are
interesting choices...and I think could be enhanced even further
with a little help from our friend "Julio"
Speaking of which...I
was trying to decide on what would be the best movies to
watch totally "Blazed"
I really should consult
Money or my buddy Keith, who sadly would reply * MASH? * (Not a big
movie buff Keith)
Since they're currently
unavailable I did some research & these are the selections I came
up with.

the way to go. Finding Nemo & The Lion King are choice...but some

1) Yellow Submarine
2) Fantasia
3) Willy Wonka & the
Chocolate Factory
4) Easy Rider
(My personal favourite!)
5) ANYTHING Cheech &
Chong
6) Requiem for a Dream

If the stores are out
of The Life Aquatic, borrow Monaghan's copy.
But if he lives to far,
Team America: World Police should provide
yet another giggles outlet for weed lovers with it's bombastic &
tasteless puppet action/humour.
Also, these television
based DVD sets arrive in stores in the next couple weeks.
Seinfeld
Season 4 and Six Feet Under: Season 3
arrives Tuesday May 17th
And the much
anticipated Chappelles Show Season 2: Uncensored
hits stores May 24th.
Trivia Question
Last months answer to
the trivia question:
In the movie
Napoleon Dynamite, what
is the name of Uncle Rico's ex-girlfriend ?
A:
Tammy
***It is mentioned only
once during the entire movie, by Kip...He asks: "So, are you and
Tammy still together?"
Since no one got that
one...I'll make this one a little easier:
Q: Name the Woody Allen
film Scarlett Johansson recently completed?
***I'll provide the the
