02/23/06 - The Continental Aluminum Plant

A man named Chris Sypolt e-mailed me about a university website project I had created which mentioned the Continental Aluminum Plant. He told me even more things than I already knew.  He knew so much because he worked there from 1991-1994 as a Aluminum scrap buyer, before leaving in 1994 to reside in Seattle, Washington.

The inside of the Continental; quite vacant and roomy.

Shout outs to JLAW.

Kayla, Holly & Donnie used as a reference of size.

Large hole providing one of many openings into the structure.

There was plenty of stagnant water on the roof and it steadily dropped onto these branches below.

KOSEK had this spot on lock. Donnie & myself were pleased.

"Old School"-style STORI

Water Tower...

A great DEAD KRAK HEAD piece...stupid local kids go scribbling atop.

Looking through a ceiling hole towards the smoke stacks...

Fire alarm...

Getting my artistic picture skills on...as you can see, we should have brought the flashlight in.

Turdle...

Kayla's roommate Holly

Safety first...signs like this always make me envision my workplace being abandoned.

What appears to be the foreman's office; you can see the previous sign off to the right.

Some nice FOHR characters in the black dross (aluminum slag) building.

Detroit's own ESAU with out-of-towner SKREW

ARMY ADOR

Some more KRAK HEAD cats and a DEATH

Kayla amazed to be able to take some KOSEK home with her

...said KOSEK from the previous picture.

One of the buildings complete with smoke stack.

Entrance.

Panoramic of the Continental compound.

Sorry for the lack of captions, I think the pictures explain themselves in these photosets.
