October 15th, 2005 - Chicago Road Trip with Donnie It was getting near that time of year when the fear of cold weather starts to facilitate road trips like crazy; with Donnie never having been to Chicago it seemed like a good choice. I was there when I was 17, but I figured to give it another chance.
75¢ for air...Jesus! I get mad enough when I have to pay a quarter.
When you increase that car ride to 4 hours you get some interesting conversation, actions and items. Can't complain though, 'Olde English Hands' still hangs from my rear view to this day.
A unique apartment structure downtown. The lower half is for cars and the top is apartments.
While those apartment structures sat to our left at a red light, to the right was a bridge coming up. Quite a few items catching our eye entering this metropolis.
Speaking of catching our eye, there was all kinds of fine females walking around...I'm talking same league as London; except 5 times more because of the population.
It was funny too, with all the fine females walking around; there was a lot of 'questionable' guys. I bet those girls would be pleasantly surprised by a real man like myself.
Also there was Donald Trump advertisings; can't argue with that.
So anyway, the point of the trip was to get some riding in...Donnie roller x-up bench ride.
There's always a minimum on biking pictures because we film anything good, so after filming and riding, we got more into a tourist mode. Sears Tower from the ground up.
Typical "Chinese exchange student in front of landmark" picture.
Another Chicago landmark; the famous lighted sign.
Horse drawn buggy
After being tourists for a bit, we wanted some Chicago pizza; since it's supposed to be so legendary. We found a bar with the World Series on and got some pizza & Sam Adams. When we left the bar, we bothered Donnie to try to tailwhip off this manly sized curb cut.
Even though it was midnight I still wanted to ride and convinced them to go out yet again. We headed back downtown and I rode this sculpture for a bit. (the base was only a foot or so and you could hop up and ride that banked part)
We ended the night's riding with riding some fountain thing...I don't know what we were doing.
Overall I'd give Chicago a 7.5 stars / 10. It had some good street, good females and good food; but it was nothing spectacular. Donnie would disagree with me for sure as they both loved it way more than I. |
