Into November and I read about the interesting history of a town 70km south. Instead of racking up yet another Northern Peninsula trip, I decided to travel elsewhere.
The buildings in this one aren't very interesting, but I believe the overall history and uniqueness is. I'd rank it a 7, most likely worth the 13 minutes of your time.
Happy Canada Day to all! Have a good rest of the week.
This was never one of my jams growing up; but it was just one of those songs you'd hear when you were in some random dude's car and on some random beer and/or greens chase.
I still find it funny that they named the hockey team the 'Kings' in a city with such gang and graffiti activity.

Another week passed and another weekend came where I headed for the Northern Peninsula. This time I made it a little further and found an interesting house.
The fact that Newfoundland is an island and has only been a Canadian province for 60 years; means that there are plenty of foods and customs which you will only find on 'The Rock.'
Within this group of Newfoundland foods and drinks are items of various quality; but one of the things they get absolutely right is Pineapple Crush.
Mmmmmm!
Pineapple Crush is so, so very good. To the point of where you wonder why the rest of Canada doesn't have it. I'm not even a big pop drinker, yet I get excited and actually go out of my way for Pineapple Crush.
Also, the 3 people who I've had come visit me, have all enjoyed Pineapple Crush.
Another unique thing they have is Mary Brown's*.
Mary Brown's is a greasy tater/chicken place and while I love taters; they produce the worse taters possible. Every time I've went to Mary Brown's, they've been lukewarm, salty & mediocre.
For such an easy formula of deep fried potatoes, they sure find a way to mess it up.
Also, I've had one of their chicken wings just to try and it was pretty much on par with KFC. I'm not a big fried chicken man, so take that advice for what it's worth.
*Just now I googled Mary Brown's and found they have 2 locations in Nova Scotia & plenty in Alberta & Ontario. I never knew this and I do know that Windsor is often skipped over by franchises for some odd reason.
So now you know you can have some Mary Brown's when you're in London, Ontario or Dartmouth, Nova Scotia as well.

I'm going to try and 'rate' each of the upcoming updates, since some of these NFLD updates might be a little stale. I know Dzimaarsky has voiced that my site is 'fucking boring as shit' when I get away from drunkenness and random stories...but that's just how it's going to have to be while I'm here.
That being said, I'd say this is probably a 6.5 - it's going to be fresh, there's something I get inside and most of y'all want to finally see some NFLD pictures...(Read more)

It is extremely frustrating when you constantly send out resumes and then hear nothing back.
It was in this frustration that when a Nëwfoundland company called and offered me a job, I took all of 20 seconds before jumping on the opportunity...(Read more)

I had an amazing time right after school finished as I came home with absolutely zero responsibilities. Visiting numerous friends, checking off 2 more American states and also checking off a few things from my to-do list was an excellent way to spend a few months.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Running out of money and feeling like it was time to gain some responsibility, I started applying to various jobs...(Read more)
I looked up an antonym for groundbreaking and came up with 'old hat'. Well, ok, this update will be completely 'old hat' to plenty of people who think nothing of heights, climbing and scaring themselves.
Myself on the other hand, have talked about and pondered climbing a water tower for a long time. If I had a bucket list, climbing a water tower would be on it. So I was glad to go out and finally overcome those fears.
The next weekend, we were blessed with the presence of Dziamaarsky on one beautiful summer day. After some food, we chilled on this school roof for a bit; before grabbing a few 40's and making our way over to this amazing, chateau-like, apartment roof.
Dziamaarsky and Don were talking about women and other manly men things, so I took to something better through shimmying up the side of one of the roof peaks until I could straddle the top.
It was a pretty amazing view:
From there, I took a picture which is on my 'top 10 favourite shots of 2008' list.
The single house left on the block:
It shows something which I point out to people whenever I drive in this city: to try and imagine what it used to be like. That there used to be a dense colony of houses on that block; now only one or two remain.
Dziamaarsky finished his Schlitz 40 quickly, so we had to climb back down so that he could grab another.
The night ended after some strange building consisting of a sea of shoe piles.
Then while I was writing that update, I was reminded about not being able to find a liquor store, terrible nightlife and the fact that Cleveland just brings me down.
So it may just remain on that list for the immediate future.
(If you've seen this update already on facebook and you're wondering what the hell I'm doing with my time; it's because Roachie recently informed me about how he was looking at this site and reminiscing from other updates - therefore I felt the need to add this Cleveland/Cincy recap.

It seems like I've been working on this update forever; but with visiting a former Robin Givens location, a stunning hospital and a favourite city, I got just a little carried away.
I have to apologize to everyone in the pool, I have been in Boston & Halifax. I have updated the files (you can find them above) and I will frequently update them in the future.
The only other concern is that we only got 8 people :(
I know I said that I will promise the $210 of payout money, but that was if we got something like 16 or 17, not 8. Therefore, the money will be distributed according to percentages.
I'm leaving for the night ferry in 30 minutes and I don't know if I'll have access to a PC tomorrow, so here are my picks so you don't think I altered them after the playing of the first games tomorrow.
